Dan Laplain has over 30 years of progressive experience, and is a recognized expert in developing, marketing and delivering quality management and process improvement initiatives, with a specific focus on Lean Enterprise and Six Sigma implementation, including Black Belt training and project selection and coaching.
As Director Six Sigma Services for KPMG LLP, Dan successfully delivered Six Sigma programs and process improvement services to high-level clients in a wide variety of industries, including mining, retail, telecom, general and automotive manufacturing and food processing. As Project Director/Master Black Belt with Bombardier Aerospace, Dan played a lead role in deploying Six Sigma methodologies and reengineering endeavors for the product change management process. In total Dan was involved in completing and coaching over 100 Six Sigma projects, which resulted in savings exceeding $50M over a five-year period. Dan’s wealth of experience in the transportation and aviation sectors includes Director Quality and Flight Operations, Program Director for the Global Express, and Director Quality Assurance for Spar Aerospace. Dan was approved by Transport Canada Aviation to head the quality function for both maintenance and manufacturing organizations.
Dan studied Mechanical Engineering at Acton and Harrow Colleges, UK and Statistical Process Control at the University of Birmingham, UK. He earned Six Sigma Black Belt and Master Black Belt from the Six Sigma Academy in Scottsdale Arizona. Dan’s industry involvement includes Chair Aerospace Industries Association Canada, Quality Committee; Chair Aerospace Industries Association Canada, Approved Parts Committee; and Director SGS ICS Advisory Board.
